Summer Game Fest 2025 just dropped more announcements than your backlog can handle—and we’re only getting started. Hosted by Geoff Keighley at the YouTube Theater in L.A., the kickoff showcase delivered a smorgasbord of new games, fresh trailers, and “did they just do that?!” moments from over 60 studios.
Here’s a roundup of the biggest announcements and why you should care (or cry).
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach Is Real, Weird, and Glorious
Kojima’s back on his beachy bullshit with a new trailer that’s as bizarre as it is beautiful. Norman Reedus’ Sam Bridges returns, navigating eerie shorelines, unsettling tech, and cryptic monologues. Kojima promises deeper narrative threads and more connected gameplay—so expect to cry, walk, and question your existence all over again.
Splinter Cell Remake Lives (Barely)
Ubisoft whispered into the void with a cryptic teaser featuring Sam Fisher’s iconic trifocal goggles. It’s not much, but it’s enough to revive the hopes of stealth fans who’ve been starved since the Obama administration. No date, no gameplay, just pure tease.
Black Myth: Wukong Lands on Xbox
After lighting up PS5 and PC in 2024, Black Myth: Wukong is finally heading to Xbox Series X on August 20, 2025. The delay? Optimization hurdles on Series S, apparently. Still, 20 million copies sold speaks for itself—prepare to deflect, dodge, and die in beautiful fashion.
Sonic Racing: Crossworlds Could Actually Be Good?
Sonic’s kart career continues in Crossworlds, featuring a multiversal lineup of characters, slick visuals, and enough speed to make Rainbow Road blush. SEGA’s leaning hard into customization and chaos—Mario Kart better check its rearview.
Dune: Awakening Makes Sand Cool Again
Funcom showed off gameplay for Dune: Awakening, its ambitious open-world MMO set on Arrakis. Expect base building, political power plays, and lots of spice. Oh, and sandworms. So. Many. Sandworms.
Mafia: The Old Country Goes Full Godfather
Set in early 1900s Sicily, Mafia: The Old Country is a prequel promising a cinematic mob origin story. The vibes are strong, the accents are thicker, and the family drama looks juicier than a plate of spaghetti alla vendetta. It’s coming in 2026.
Dying Light: The Beast Brings Back the Parkour Panic
Techland isn’t done with zombies yet. The Beast is a standalone expansion introducing a new character and even more intense day/night tension. Enhanced parkour, new horrors, and moodier storytelling promise to keep your heart rate high.
Ill Looks Like A Fever Dream
Team Clout’s Ill is a grotesque first-person horror game that throws psychological dread and grotesque imagery into a blender. The trailer was short, but haunting—a bit like if Silent Hill got lost in an HR Giger sketchbook.
WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers Is A Soulslike Worth Watching
Chinese studio Leenzee Games showed off WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers, a dark fantasy RPG set in a cursed Ming Dynasty. Think Bloodborne meets ancient China with slick combat and monstrous foes. One to keep an eye on if you like your games brutal and beautiful.
