The June 2025 PlayStation State of Play just went live, and it slapped harder than a Blades of Chaos combo. With over 40 minutes of straight-up fire reveals, fan-favorite franchises making dramatic returns, and jaw-dropping surprises, Sony made it clear: PS5 is still eating good. Missed the stream? Don’t worry, we gotchu.
Here’s everything that dropped—with some spicy commentary, because we’re gamers, not robots.
Ghost of Yōtei (Sucker Punch)
Jin Sakai is back, and this time, he brought snowstorms and stealth kills.
The sequel to Ghost of Tsushima has finally been revealed, and Ghost of Yōtei looks absolutely cracked. Set in the frigid wilds of Hokkaido, the game pushes the stealth-action envelope with new mechanics like a grappling hook (yes, we’re Spider-Samurai now) and reactive weather that can hide your movements or reveal your location.
Release Date: October 2, 2025
Expect more Ronin drama, frostbitten duels, and yes, you can pet the foxes again.
🌊 Death Stranding 2: On The Beach (Kojima Productions)
Hideo Kojima is back to confuse and enchant us, and we’re here for it.
The new trailer is pure Kojima: floating whales, broken guitars, cryptic monologues, and a baby in a jar who may or may not be the key to world peace. Norman Reedus returns, this time seemingly more grounded (emotionally, not physically).
Release Window: TBD, probably 2026, because Kojima likes to marinate.
There are sandstorms, surreal dreamscapes, and what looked like a stealth section involving umbrellas. It’s weird. It’s wonderful. It’s Death Stranding.
🦦 Wolverine (Insomniac Games)
Logan is slicing his way to PS5 and it’s looking bloody brilliant.
Insomniac dropped a short teaser, but what it lacked in length, it made up for in raw, gritty vibes. Picture: Logan lighting a cigar in a blood-splattered alley while Mutant-hunting mercs close in. The tone? The Last of Us meets Logan.
Release Date: Not announced. (But 2026 is looking real sharp.)
This one’s going for an M-rating, and if you loved Spider-Man 2, expect Insomniac to bring that same magic with claws instead of webs.
🏹 Horizon: Echoes (Guerrilla Games)
Co-op robo-dino hunting? Yes please.
Horizon: Echoes is a multiplayer spin-off set in the same lush, post-apocalyptic universe. You and your squad of futuristic hunters can take on mega-beasts across expansive biomes. Think Monster Hunter meets Horizon.
Beta: Closed beta sign-ups begin next month.
With a shared hub area, gear crafting, and drop-in missions, this could be a sleeper hit—assuming Guerrilla nails the gameplay loop.
🩸 Resident Evil: Rebirth (Capcom)
Capcom teases something dark, familiar, and deeply cursed.
We only got a teaser, but it was spooky enough to raise eyebrows. A hooded figure walks through a fog-drenched village while whispers echo around. Then—bam—Umbrella logo flash. Fans are speculating this is a reimagining of Resident Evil 5, but with a serious tonal overhaul.
Release Window: Unconfirmed
Could this be Capcom’s answer to the criticisms of RE5’s tone? We’re hoping for less action-hero camp, more survival horror dread.
🎥 How to Watch the Replay
Missed the hype live? No problem. The full State of Play is available on PlayStation’s YouTube and Twitch channels.
Pro tip: If you’re co-streaming or planning to make a reaction vid, beware of the copyright police—some of those background tracks are hungry for VODs.
🔮 Final Thoughts: Sony Ain’t Slowing Down
This showcase packed more punch than a Spartan Rage meter. We got long-awaited sequels, wild new IP reveals, and just enough weirdness to keep us guessing (thanks Kojima). It’s a good time to be a PS5 owner—or a PS5 wishlist dreamer.
